Putting an infrared heater in a bathroom is a bit of a balancing act. You need it to be waterproof, sure, but there’s something else people often forget: the light. If you’re using these in a room where babies or toddlers are around, the heat isn’t actually the hardest part to manage. It’s the glare.
Saving the Eyes
Ever looked at a standard short-wave IR lamp? They’re blinding. That harsh, bright light can be way too much for sensitive eyes, especially a baby’s. To fix this, we use special quartz coatings or filtered halogen parts. Think of it like a pair of sunglasses for the heater. It blocks out that aggressive visible light but lets the actual warmth slide right through. You still get that instant, cozy heat on your skin, but you don’t have to squint. No blinding lights, no stressed-out kids. Just warmth.
Dealing with Steam and Heat
Water and electricity are a terrible mix. We use IP65-rated housings because they keep the steam and splashes out of the guts of the machine. Everything is tucked safely behind a shield of tempered glass. But here’s the catch: when you seal something that tightly to keep water out, the heat likes to stay trapped inside. If you cram too much power into a tiny box, the whole thing will just fry itself. We spend a lot of time tweaking the wattage. We want it hot enough to be useful, but not so hot that the housing becomes a hazard to touch.
Getting it Installed
We kept the connectors simple so you can just swap these into your existing fixtures without a headache. We also toughened up the circuitry so the humidity from your morning shower doesn’t eat away at the terminals. One quick tip: double-check your wiring before you flip the switch. These lamps pull a decent amount of power. If your circuit can’t handle the peak current, you’ll be tripping the breaker the second the heater kicks in. Also, make sure your voltage is spot on. If it’s off, the filament will burn out way faster than it should.
