Power and Performance
This thing runs on serious power—230V or 400V, with wattages from 1500W to 2500W. That’s why it hits operating temperature in seconds, not minutes. The tube itself is compact, just 300mm to 600mm long, so it doesn’t take up much space. But it throws a tight, focused pattern of heat. It’s built to fight wind chill and the heat loss you always get in open-air setups.
The Core: Material and Design
Inside the quartz envelope, the halogen cycle keeps the filament stable, even at extreme temps. So you don’t get the burn-out you see with standard heating elements. The shortwave infrared heat doesn’t just warm the air—it penetrates and heats solid objects, people, and surfaces directly. And it’s properly sealed. The waterproof rating is IP55 or higher, so rain and moisture can’t touch the electrical connections. We use an R7s connector, too, for a secure, industrial-grade install that just drops in.
Real-World Use: The Trade-Offs
For pergolas, you can wire this right into the structure and get heat the moment you need it. That direct heat transfer is super efficient. But here’s the thing—the surface gets seriously hot. You have to keep your clearances and make sure nothing touches it. And because it’s that powerful, you need proper circuit protection and a cooling setup around it that’s rated correctly. That’s just the reality of getting that instant-on, industrial-level performance.
